This Privacy Policy explains how ConvertME works and what information may be processed when you use the service. ConvertME follows a local-first architecture: when you select a file for conversion, the processing is designed to happen in your own browser, without uploading the file contents to ConvertME servers.
1. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to the pages, tools and converters made available through ConvertME.
ConvertME does not require an account, subscription, payment information or email address before you use the conversion tools.
By using the service, you acknowledge that conversion quality and availability may vary according to browser capabilities, device memory, file size and format complexity.
2. How your files are processed
- The selected file is read by the browser only so the requested conversion can be performed.
- Image, PDF, document, spreadsheet, structured-data, audio and video conversions use browser APIs, JavaScript libraries and WebAssembly components loaded in the page.
- ConvertME is not designed to send selected file contents to its own servers for conversion.
- The converted file is generated in the browser and made available for download. After download, storage, sharing and deletion are controlled by your device and browser.
3. Information we may process
Because ConvertME does not include user accounts or a conversion history, we do not maintain a profile linked to your converted files.
Technical access data may be processed by the hosting infrastructure, such as IP address, request date and time, visited URLs, browser type, operating system, error information and security logs. This data helps keep the service available, secure and functional.
If you contact us by email, we may process the email address, message content and any information you decide to include, solely to respond to the request and maintain necessary communication records.
4. Browser preferences
ConvertME stores only your light or dark theme preference in your browser's localStorage under the key convertme-theme. This remains on your device until you remove it or clear browser data.
Language selection is reflected in the page URL. ConvertME does not create a user account or associate that choice with a personal profile.
The current application does not configure advertising cookies, user accounts or first-party analytics scripts.
5. Third-party resources required for conversion
Some advanced converters may download technical runtime components when used, such as FFmpeg WebAssembly files from unpkg.com or OCR resources required by Tesseract.js.
These downloads load the processing engine in your browser. They are separate from the file you select for conversion.
External providers may receive ordinary request metadata, such as IP address, user agent, request date and time. ConvertME is designed not to send them the contents of your selected conversion files.
6. Purposes of processing
- Perform the requested conversion directly in the browser.
- Maintain basic interface preferences, such as the visual theme.
- Respond to messages voluntarily sent by email.
- Protect the application against abuse, downtime, technical failures and misuse.
- Comply with legal obligations or valid requests from competent authorities when applicable.
7. Security and retention
ConvertME's primary privacy measure is data minimization: conversions are designed to run in the browser, reducing the need to transmit file contents to service servers.
Technical logs may be retained by infrastructure providers for as long as necessary for security, diagnostics, abuse prevention and service operation.
Email messages may be retained for support, internal control, security and legal compliance when necessary.
8. Information sharing
ConvertME does not sell personal information and does not commercialize the content of files used in conversions.
Technical information may be processed by hosting, infrastructure, security and resource-distribution providers only as needed to provide the service.
Selected file contents are not retained by ConvertME because conversion takes place locally in the browser.
9. Your rights and contact
You may request clarification about privacy, data processing, contact records or information related to your use of the service.
